This morning had a scan to check on beautiful baby and my placenta. I am 28 weeks and little one is looking good. Measuring about 1.3kg (2.8lbs) which is a little chunky for this stage. Plus good fluid, great cord blood flow etc etc. So was very happy and relieved to see and hear all that. HOWEVER my placenta is still low and appears to actually cover my cervix a little. I have called my doctor to get her opinion on the scan results and her advice for this stage but no reply as yet.
So until I talk to her I won't "call it" placenta praevia but its looking like its not going to move. BLOODY HELL.
So if it was 'just' that I need to have a C section then I would adjust my head to this idea and of course would just deal with it. Anything for a healthy live baby and healthy Mum right!! But its not just that..google this condition people and you will discover it makes me "high risk" as if having a dead baby last time was not "high risk enough". Greater risks of bleeds, and placental abruptions and other such fun stuff.
I have had my big cry session but I am trying to 'wait' until I talk to Dr Lee until I start to worry too much.
Any ideas or advice or some fabulous outcome stories would be great. Please can you guys cheer me up.

Hi Ange
They had a story on RPA the other night with a woman with placenta previa which of course had a wonderful happy ending (as all those TV shows do). And of course I watched it and bawled my eyes out. As I want a damn happy ending. At least they are on top of things now. Crossing my fingers for happy endings for you.

First, yea for all of the good news that came from the scan! I love good news! Second, I've had many a friend with previa who went on to have perfect pg's and deliveries, vag.in.al ones too. Wait until you talk to your doc but I think if it's only covering a little bit you're still ok. AS for the high risk thing, I like to think about it as extra insurance that the docs are watching you mighty close, and will keep things from going wrong instead of dealing with things that have already gone wrong. Does that make sense?
xxoo
I know placenta previa can be a very serious condition, so it's best your doctor consult with you about it. I hope, as Hope's Mama and Kalakly have suggested, that you are one of those people (and your baby is one of those babies) who is not affected by this condition. Keeping you in my thoughts and heart, Ange. I'm sorry that you've been given anything to worry about. XO.
I hope you hear from the doc soon. I hope you are taking it easy until then and can stay off your feet as much as possible.
My pregnancy was not high risk in the slightest, everything was completely normal, UNTIL I went into labour at 31 weeks and 5 days. Then I was in the high risk L&D.. So even if things seem to be absolutely perfect they can still go down the shitter at any minute. At least they can monitor everything if they know about it beforehand and make sure it all goes safely. Hmm I think that sounded more reassuring in my head..
those pesky placents! A good percentage of them move, and in plenty of time for a natural delivery.
But - just to be sure...I'm going to send some good thoughts your way!
Hi Ange,
I`m not pregnant again but I almost want to be high-risk because it`ll mean extra ultrasounds, checkups and care. But what the hell do I know. Just wishing like hell you get the happy ending you deserve and sending hugs.
I have no advice other than pester the sht out of your doctor! I know of some people who have had successful outcomes with this so try not to focus on the negative stuff! I know that's easier said than done. Thinking of you and hope you talk to the doctor soon!
I have a positive outcome story! Pregnant with my second child in 2002, I too was diagnosed with placenta praevia at 16 weeks. At the time,I worked in ultrasound for a manufacturer, and knew the risks. Whatever the high-risk OB said I did more of. Off my feet? Okay, bedrest. Don't pick up my toddler? Okay, don't pick up anything. I had bleeds after 33 weeks when I in the hospital anyway at 32 weeks, with my last one declared "the one" and my son was delivered at 35 weeks, 6 lbs 15ozs. I live in Canada, not sure of how health system works there but basically I insisted to be hospitalized by 32 weeks (okay, bullied)and that's what happened. I know you're terrified, and I don't blame you. But the odds are really in your favour. Take extra good care of yourself, stay within 5 minutes of a hospital at any given time (if this is not the case now, move with family/friend if possible, I moved in with my parents who were down the street from my hospital, arrange something like this if you can). Several of my friends have had successful outcomes. Know that you didn't cause it and that it's random. And know that I am praying praying praying for a good outcome for you too.

Thanks lovely girls.. Ob appointment on Tuesday. Will know more than.
I had partial previa with my second son...undiagnosed to top it all...and despite the fact I started bleeding badly at 36 weeks, my son was born healthy and strong. Hoping for a great outcome for you.
